SWIM
The swim in the crystal clear waters of Redfish Lake will be cool, and wetsuits will be required. Visit wetsuitrental.com for rental information. Water temperatures will most likely be between 55-60 degrees during the event, thus it will be a water start to get your body acclimated. It is an out-and-back swim with a beach exit and the transition area close.
The swim course is subject to change and will most likely be swam in a triangular, clockwise direction. If water temperatures are at 55 degrees or higher, the swim will be 1000m for the Olympic Triathlon. If the temperature is between 52 degrees and 54 degrees, we will shorten it to 750m. The Sprint Triathlon will proceed with the scheduled distance of 500m. If it is below 52 degrees, we will replace the swim in both the Olympic and Sprint Triathlons with a 2k run. Thank you for understanding that Mother Nature is calling the shots on this one!
Wetsuits are mandatory and we strongly recommend a neoprene swim cap.

Swim Course
BIKE
The bike course begins at the Redfish Lodge and heads northeast along the Redfish Lake Road. Leaving the transition area after the swim, the athletes will ride an out-and-back course that takes them through the scenic Sawtooth Valley, where there will be snow-capped mountains behind the blooming mountain wildflowers. This is all downhill with about a 300 foot total elevation drop by the time you reach highway 75. From the intersection at highway 75, until the turnaround at Fourth of July Creek (Olympic distance), you gain about 400 feet in elevation, all gradual. The paved course is mostly flat, quite fast, and beautiful.

Sprint Bike Course

Olympic Bike Course
RUN The run is a slight change from the first year as you will begin by running to the Point Campground and returning behind the lodge and then as shown. The run is a one loop course for the Sprint (5K) and a two loop course for the Olympic (10K) that circumnavigates the Forest Service roads around Redfish Lake. It is all on paved roads and will feature several great viewing sites for friends and family. The finish is directly in front of the Redfish Lake Lodge.
